Tonight I had the opportunity to get "back to my roots". When I started on this journey of sharing words with others, it was right here in JerseyCity.
Even after all this time I still get nervous. When I get so nervous my knees shake I go to the first poem I memorized, Obituary.
There's something comforting in knowing that you KNOW something so well you could do it in your sleep. I still rehearse Obituary and it's still different every time. It's poetry. Inspired by one thing, impassioned by another, touching memories and creating new ones
So there was no music, no dancing. There was just the word, the art - POETRY
New faces. Eager to have their voices heard, words accepted and applauded. What a beautiful sight!!
